Last week I was up in Forres for Trina’s mum’s Birthday; a nice family get-together. We stayed at Findhorn, at a cottage overlooking the bay, a wonderfully photogenic spot which is never the same twice. I’ve included some pictures of the same spot from my last visit on New years’ Day to illustrate the point.
On this trip we also walked most of the ‘Dava Way’, which follows the route of the old railway line between Grantown and Forres over the beautifully bleak Dava moor.
This is the trailer for the recently-completed “Paws on the Moors” film, commissioned by the Moors for the Future partnership. This was a bit of a marathon – Alan Clews adapted the script from a stage version by Pamela Butler; Sam Wooldridge did most of the cutaways stills (some based on my roughs, see below). Jonah Buckley built the CelAction character models for most of the dogs. Sound design and foley work was by some highly skilled people sourced by the production company, World Wide Pictures. I should know the names of all the voice artists but I don’t – apologies! – but TV cartoon veteran Rob Rackstraw really adds to the film as the voice of Bingo.
Pretty much the rest of the 15-minute film – storyboard, design (dogs were based on designs supplied by the client), backgrounds, animation and editing – is my own work, all done between mid-December 2007 and mid-April 2008. I’m still recovering!
